Even connected through USB some of the buttons don't seem to be recognized in Emulationstation (I have two controllers that both do it so that's why I'm thinking the drivers are the wrong ones). I tried pairing the controller and dongle through bluetoothctl but I didn't have much luck but maybe trusting the device will help.Īnother concern is that the drivers that GUI unpackages aren't the right ones.
HOW TO GET MY PS3 MAC ADDRESS BLUETOOTH
My bluetooth dongle is good and bluetoothctl picks up the MAC address of the controller (I've done this in hcitools scan as well) so it's seeing the devices but not pairing for some reason. I didn't check to see if the sixad processes were running though so I'll give that a shot. I sadly already did some this but in different ways I guess. Now you can try unplugging the controller and pressing the PS button again.ĮDIT: forgot to tell you, to quit bluetoothctl just type 'quit', and a quick way to get back into EmulationStation from the terminal is to type CTRL-D You can try to 'trust' the controller by typing 'trust ' (use the MAC of the device that appeared when you plugged it in.) # trust 00:26:5C:82:28:91 Plug in your controller and hopefully you will see something like this: Device 00:26:5C:82:28:91 PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller Type 'sudo bluetoothctl' and if your bluetooth adapter is recognized you should see something similar: $ sudo bluetoothctl Let's make sure the bluetooth system is seeing your adapter. Try plugging in the controller again, unplugging, and pressing PS button. (and you should see:) Starting bluetooth (via systemctl): rvice.
HOW TO GET MY PS3 MAC ADDRESS DRIVER
One thing to try first is re-enabling regular bluetooth that the sixad driver blocks: sudo sixad -r If the processes are still not showing up you may have a problem with your bluetooth settings. If so, plug your controller in via USB and wait 5 seconds, unplug the controller and press the PS button. If they are not running you can attempt to start them with the following command: sudo /etc/init.d/sixad restartĭo the ps -ef command from above again and see if the processes are now there. These are the processes for the sixad daemon (PS3 driver). If the PS3 driver is working you should see something like this: $ ps -ef | grep sixad From there type this: ps -ef | grep sixad Plug in a keyboard to get terminal access from Emulationstation by pressing F4. I seriously am so confused why this isn't as simple as what some people are describing Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to solve it?Īny help or directions to other solved solutions are greatly appreciated!ĮDIT: It paired one time and I don't know how I did it. I saw an older post about the gasia clones having issues and a github link to a qtsixa/sixad fix but I'm not sure if that's relevant anymore since setup asks you which PS3 controller it is (normal, gasia, gasia clone, or shawna). I've done all the sudo apt-get update/upgrade and installed bluetooth bluez and blueman but it's still not letting me pair. Then I disconnect the USB and push the center PS button to pair but it doesn't. This screen is what it gives me so I connect the PS3 controller through USB and the LED will be lit on '1'.

It downloads the packages it needs and it finishes. Going into setup and selecting install/pair Ps3 controller. Sudo /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh It recognizes the PS3 controller and accepts inputs from the buttons. Hcitools scan also picks up the controllers MAC address so I know the controller is at least trying to pair. I've followed all the tutorials and read through tons of forums so I'm not sure what I'm missing but here's what I'm doing so far. I'm trying to get my retropie to pair with my off-brand PS3 controller (gasia clone I think) but for the life of me I can not get it to work.
